Tangshan steelmakers closing, slowly
Tangshan Songting Iron and Steel (Songting) is the latest steelworks in northern China’s Tangshan to stop all steelmaking after it closed down its blast furnaces and basic oxygen furnaces last week. Although closures have been building, they still account for only some 10% of the city’s capacity and are far from enough to balance the market, Kallanish notes.
