Taiwanese scrap prices decline on weak demand
The Taiwanese market for containerised scrap continues to fall in this quiet week before the Lunar New Year, Kallanish notes.
Offers for HMS 1&2 80:20 from the US West Coast continue to decline, as demand for scrap from Taiwan buyers is not strong. Most factories will have holiday periods of around 10 days, a Taiwanese trader says, and offers are now at around $255/tonne. This is about $10/t lower from last week.
