Taiwanese scrap prices increase
The Taiwanese scrap market continues to rise due to supply shortages. This has also helped to drive domestic scrap prices up as sales have taken place.
Offers of HMS 1&2 80:20 container scrap from the US West Coast have jumped by another $5/tonne to $255-260/t cfr Taiwan. Deals took place late last week at $248/t cfr Taiwan, a trader says, and deal prices reached $250/t cfr. Some suppliers have stopped quoting, so buyers have few options.
