Synalloy points to steel, nickel pricing challenges
A challenging steel pricing environment added to the nickel woes faced by stainless producers in the first quarter, says Synalloy ceo Craig Bram.
Synalloy saw its stainless pipe and metals division lose profits on-year despite a 56% increase in total sales, Kallanish notes. Stainless surcharges fell about -25% on-year, and consolidation in the stainless distribution industry led to an “... aggressive” pricing environment, Bram says.
