Sumitomo promotes biocoke for steelmaking
Sumitomo Shoji Machinex announced on Monday that it will cooperate with Japan's Kindai University to promote biocoke use in steelmaking to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. The companies involved also include Naniwa Roki Research Institute, Yamato Steel and Kurimoto Steel.
The goal of the collaboration is to replace coal coke with "Bio-Coke" developed by Kindai University to reduce carbon emissions, Kallanish learns.
