SteelAsia to commission sections mill in 2023
Philippines steelmaker SteelAsia Manufacturing says its prospective sections mill in Batangas is expected to start operations in 2023, Kallanish notes.
The company, which is the country's largest rebar producer, initially planned a 500,000 tonnes/year capacity for the new plant but has now adjusted this to 1 million t/y. Construction started in 2019 but work slowed amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
