Chinese steel strengthens on railway investment speculation
Chinese steel futures prices continued to increase on Tuesday and are now at six-year highs. A report Tuesday that railway investment could be higher than expected has helped support the market, Kallanish notes.
On the Shanghai Futures Exchange the October rebar contract closed at CNY 4,237/tonne ($619/t), CNY 13/t higher, while the same contract for hot rolled coil closed up CNY 11/t at CNY 4,249/t.
