Steel futures prices slip but Baosteel confident
Chinese steel futures slipped again on Wednesday, although they remain up so far over the month. Baosteel meanwhile told the market it expects to have seen a massive 770% increase in its profits in 2016, Kallanish notes.
The May rebar contract on the Shanghai Futures Exchange closed down CNY 34/tonne at CNY 3,292/t ($478/t), while the same contract for hot rolled coil closed down CNY 42/t at CNY 3,622/t. Trading volumes remained broadly similar to Tuesday.
