China steel prices jump despite macro gloom
Chinese steel futures jumped on Monday on the release of mill inventory and house prices data. The expected release of weak gdp figures on Tuesday may again dampen sentiment, however, Kallanish notes.
The May rebar contract on the Shanghai Futures Exchange closed up CNY 53/tonne at CNY 1,827/t ($277/t), while the same contract for hot rolled coil gained CNY 38/t to CNY 1,937/t.
