Chinese steel prices hold amid commodity gloom
Chinese steel futures prices held roughly level on Tuesday with flats still stronger than longs. Falling inventories and better industrial production figures have been supporting prices but the big picture remains gloomy, Kallanish notes.
The May rebar contract on the Shanghai Futures Exchange closed down CNY 2/tonne at CNY 1,657/t ($257/t), while the same contract for hot rolled coil closed up CNY5/t at CNY 1,782/t.
