August steel mill shipments dip slightly month-on-month in U.S.
The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) says that U.S. mills shipped slightly less steel in August than in July.
Mills despatched 8,480,954 net tons, 0.1% down from the 8,492,744nt shipped in July 2014 but a 1.7% year-on-year increase from the 8,343,075nt shipped in August 2013. Shipments year-to-date to the end of August 2014 were 65,750,844nt, a 2.7% increase on 2013 y-t-d shipments of 64,019,060nt.
