Steel imports decline in January in US
US steel imports fell by 1.4% during the first month of the new year, Kallanish learns from data supplied by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).
According to recent Commerce data, monthly steel tonnage fell by 113,967 short tons in January to 7.8 million st. On-year, steel imports to the US remain up by 4.5% above shipment levels in January 2021.
