Steel import duties impact Bangladeshi industry: tariff commission
High tariff protection on billet imports is impacting the overall cost of steel production, says the Bangladesh Trade and Tariff Commission (BTTC).
"The quantity of imported mild steel products is very low in the domestic market because of excessive protective tariffs,” BTTC informs local media. “Besides, high protection reduces the efficiency of producers and leads to an increase in production cost, which ultimately harms users.”
