Steel futures weaken as market remains tight
As raw materials prices kept falling under policy pressure, and fundamentals showed limited improvement, Chinese rebar and hot rolled coil futures continued to inch lower on Tuesday, Kallanish notes. Spot steel markets were still tight, however.
On the Shanghai Futures Exchange the January 2022 rebar contract closed CNY 150/tonne lower than Monday at CNY 5,492/t ($853/t), and the same contract for HRC closed down CNY 116/t at CNY 5,689/t.
