Steel futures trends diverge in calm market
Chinese rebar and hot rolled coil futures continued to fluctuate on Wednesday amid a quiet market. The decline in rebar inventories has supported stronger prices, compared to a slight drop for HRC, Kallanish notes.
On the Shanghai Futures Exchange the October rebar contract closed CNY 45/tonne higher than Tuesday at CNY 5,658/t ($871/t), but the same contract for HRC closed down CNY 17/t at CNY 5,879/t.
