Steel futures slump as bulls retreat
The retreat of bulls and the outflow of large sums of money on Wednesday caused Chinese rebar and hot rolled coil futures to drop rapidly. They are now at the level from which prices began to fluctuate upwards 20 days ago, Kallanish notes.
On the Shanghai Futures Exchange, the most-traded October 2022 rebar contract closed CNY 160/t lower than Tuesday at CNY 3,993/tonne ($609/t), and the same contract for HRC closed down CNY 145/t at CNY 3,905/t.
