Steel futures rise on overall positive sentiment
Although production is about to resume at plants halted over the recent Chinese Communist Party celebrations, overall sentiment in the ferrous sector has improved, supporting Chinese rebar and hot rolled coil futures prices, Kallanish notes.
On the Shanghai Futures Exchange the October rebar contract closed CNY 98/tonne higher than the previous Friday at CNY 5,222/t ($808/t), and the same contract for HRC closed up CNY 76/t at CNY 5,494/t.
