Steel futures rise despite slower inventory decline
Supported by more production restrictions released the previous day, Chinese rebar and hot rolled coil futures kept rising on Thursday. HRC was favoured due to the larger impact of production cuts, Kallanish notes.
On 22 April on the Shanghai Futures Exchange, October 2021 rebar futures closed CNY 20/tonne higher than Wednesday at CNY 5,208/t ($802/t), and the same contract for HRC closed up CNY 68/t at CNY 5,552/t.
