Steel futures rally, HRC hits new record high
Chinese rebar and hot rolled coil futures hiked on Monday, alongside an overall rise in commodities futures led by metallurgical coal. Rebar reached the second-highest price in history and HRC hit a new record high, Kallanish notes.
On 29 March on the Shanghai Futures Exchange, May 2021 rebar futures closed CNY 37/tonne higher than the previous Friday at CNY 4,971/t ($758/t), and the same contract for HRC closed up CNY 132/t at CNY 5,327/t.
