Steel futures open July with gains
Chinese rebar and hot rolled coil futures rose on the first trading day of July due to production reduction rumours spreading in the market. But spot transactions showed some differences, Kallanish notes.
On the Shanghai Futures Exchange, the most-traded October 2023 rebar contract closed CNY 46/tonne higher than Friday at CNY 3,767/t ($520/t), while the same contract for HRC gained CNY 33/t to CNY 3,858/t.
