Steel futures keep rising on daily transaction surge
Stimulated by a sudden improvement in single-day transactions and weaker US inflation, Chinese rebar and hot rolled coil futures on Wednesday rose again, Kallanish notes.
On the Shanghai Futures Exchange, the most-traded May 2023 rebar contract closed CNY 39/tonne higher than Tuesday at CNY 4,066/t ($594/t), while the same contract for HRC gained CNY 40/t to CNY 4,172/t.
