Steel futures fluctuate lower amid quiet market
Despite the turbulent situation in Ukraine affecting global commodity markets, Chinese steel markets remain calm. Affected by the decline in coal-related futures, rebar and hot rolled coil futures fluctuated lower again on Tuesday, Kallanish notes.
On the Shanghai Futures Exchange, the May 2022 rebar contract closed CNY 111/tonne lower than Monday at CNY 4,734/t ($747.5/t), and the same contract for HRC closed down CNY 109/t at CNY 4,850/t.
