Steel futures fluctuate higher despite inventory jump
Boosted by surging iron ore futures, Chinese rebar and hot rolled coil futures rebounded on Thursday, although spot markets remained calm and waited for demand to resume, Kallanish notes.
On the Shanghai Futures Exchange, the May 2022 rebar contract closed CNY 112/tonne higher than Wednesday at CNY 4,955/t ($779/t), and the same contract for HRC closed up CNY 89/t at CNY 5,069/t.
