Steel futures fall on declining demand
After the quiet Dragon Boat Festival holiday, Chinese rebar and hot rolled coil futures have fluctuated. On Tuesday they finally fell due to declining demand in the domestic spot market, Kallanish notes.
On the Shanghai Futures Exchange the October rebar contract closed CNY 154/tonne lower than last Friday at CNY 5,168/t ($807/t), and the same contract for HRC closed down CNY 174/t at CNY 5,436/t.
