Steel futures fall as inventory trends diverge
Though stabilised market sentiment supported Chinese rebar and hot rolled coil futures a day earlier, declining transactions and unimproved inventories suppressed them on Thursday, Kallanish notes.
On the Shanghai Futures Exchange the October rebar contract closed CNY 81/tonne lower than Wednesday at CNY 5,373/t ($831/t), and the same contract for HRC closed down CNY 120/t at CNY 5,733/t.
