Steel futures fall amid power jitters
Transactions in spot markets fell back to lower levels on Tuesday as uncertainty over the impact of higher electricity prices spread. Chinese rebar and hot rolled coil futures thus dropped to levels before the October holiday, Kallanish notes.
On the Shanghai Futures Exchange, the January 2022 rebar contract closed CNY 246/tonne lower than Monday at CNY 5,562/t ($862/t), and the same contract for HRC closed down CNY 209/t at CNY 5,624/t.
