Steel futures edge up as inventory keeps falling
Although inventories have fallen further in the past week, production has been falling at around the same rate. Chinese rebar and hot rolled coil futures thus had little support from demand and rose slowly on Thursday, Kallanish notes.
On the Shanghai Futures Exchange, the most-traded January 2023 rebar contract closed CNY 15/tonne higher than Wednesday at CNY 3,504/t ($479/t), while the same contract for HRC gained CNY 10/t to CNY 3,576/t.
