Chinese steel flat but iron ore jumps again
Chinese steel futures held steady on Wednesday but seaborne iron ore prices jumped further. Iron ore again was boosted by bad news from Vale.
On the Shanghai Futures Exchange the October rebar contract closed at CNY 3,910/tonne ($566/t), CNY 9/t lower than Tuesday, while the some contract for hot rolled coil closed down CNY 8/t at CNY 3,757/t. In Tangshan, billet prices gained another CNY 20/t to CNY 3,600/t.
