Stahl Gerlafingen starts new furnace
Stahl Gerlafingen has started up its new electric arc furnace, Kallanish learns from parent group Beltrame.
The Swiss maker of long products for construction invested CHF 2.5 million ($2.5m) in the new furnace, which replaces an older one after 12 years of operation. It melts 80 tonnes of steel scrap in 45-minute intervals.
