SSAB opens another route to support fossil-free steelmaking
Sweden’s SSAB has launched another feasibility study to support its drive towards fossil-free steelmaking, the company tells Kallanish. It has begun a project at its Raahe mill in Finland to investigate the use of fossil-free energy sources, primarily biomaterial side-streams, to replace fossil fuels in certain steelmaking processes, for example rolling processes.
