SSAB halts Oxelösund furnace for unplanned outage
Sweden’s SSAB tells Kallanish that it has decided to shut down a blast furnace at SSAB Special Steels’ mill in Oxelösund for an unplanned outage.
“The decision to shut down was made after unusually high temperatures in the mantle of the blast furnace,” the steelmaker says. The outage is expected to last for two weeks from 29 August the company confirms, while the issue is further investigated.
