SSAB Americas aims for green steel by 2026
Swedish transplant SSAB Americas wants to be the first fossil fuel-free steel producer in the US by 2026, Kallanish learns from a company press release.
The company’s Montpelier, Iowa, facility is “...on track” to be fossil-free by 2022. It will utilise domestic wind power from MidAmerican Energy and Swedish sponge iron produced by the Hybrit project, a joint venture between SSAB, LKAB, and Vattenfall.
