Spain reduces 2016 steel output and energy consumption
The Spanish steel sector reduced both its crude steel output and its energy consumption last year, according to data seen by Kallanish.
Local steelmakers produced 13.7 million tonnes of crude steel during the year, down -8% year-on-year according to data published by worldsteel. The drop was significantly higher than the average fall in output registered for the EU28 (-2.3% y-o-y).
