South Korea, Taiwan back Japan’s September import growth
Japanese imports of iron and steel products in September continued to grow both on-month and on-year. This was mainly supported by suppliers in South Korea and Taiwan, Kallanish notes.
Monthly imports were up 8.7% m-o-m and 24.5% y-o-y at 632,619 tonnes, according to customs data supplied by the Japan Iron & Steel Federation. This took year-to-date imports to 5.54 million tonnes, posting a rise of 7.3% y-o-y.
