South Korean scrap imports plunge in April
South Korea’s April scrap imports recorded a plunge both month-on-month and year-on-year, while exports still remained higher than the year-ago level, according to customs data.
April imports of scrap under HS code 7204 declined 30.5% over March and halved y-o-y to 251,315 tonnes due to sufficient domestic availability. This took total imports in the first four months of the year to 1.348 million tonnes, down 27.5% y-o-y, Kallanish notes.
