South American steel output continues rising in March
South American crude steel production increased in March and the first quarter, according to worldsteel data monitored by Kallanish. Mexican output, however, was not in line with this improvement.
South American crude steel output totalled 3.59 million tonnes in March, 8.1% more year-on-year. Output was also up 2.4% compared to February. Q1 regional crude steel production amounted to 10.86mt, 7.1% more than in the first quarter of 2020.
