South American, Mexican steel production grows in 2018
South American and Mexican crude steel production rose slightly year-on-year in 2018. In December alone, however, regional output fell on-year, according to the latest worldsteel data monitored by Kallanish.
South American crude steel output totalled 44.27 million tonnes in 2018, up 1.3% on-year. The region's crude steel production reached 3.35mt in December, down -6.9% on-year.
