South Africa's steel sector improves performance in May
The iron and steel production sector in South Africa saw a jump in performance in May following its return to year-on-year growth in April according to Statistics South Africa data monitored by Kallanish.
Following five consecutive months of on-year decreases, manufacturing volume growth in the iron and steel sector turned slightly positive y-o-y in April, showing a 0.2% increase. This surged in May however to show growth of 21.6% on the same basis.
