South Africa’s steelmaking raw materials earn export income
South African steelmaking mineral export income comprised ZAR 101.7 billion ($6.88 billion) in January-July on an for (free on rail) basis. This is according to a South Africa Department of Mineral Resources and Energy preliminary report, monitored by Kallanish.
Iron ore production in the seven-month period was 40.4 million tonnes. 3.65mt of iron ore was sold in the domestic market, while 34mt was exported, generating ZAR 72.7 billion in foreign income.
