South Africa's April iron ore output, exports decline
South African steelmaking minerals output decreased in April by 3.6% on-year and 6.2% on-month; however, four-month production ticked up slightly, by 0.3% on-year.
In January-April, the country exported 26.63 million tonnes of combined chromium ore, manganese, iron ore and nickel, almost unchanged against last year. Export income in 2023 was ZAR 58.68 billion ($3.33 billion) versus ZAR 54.14 billion in the same period in 2022.
