South African metals union strike spooks automotive industry
South Africa's biggest metalworkers’ union, Numsa, has embarked on an indefinite engineering strike after salary talks ended in deadlock. The scheduled strike began on 5 October and has raised concern in the automotive, steel and construction sectors that the supply chain will be disrupted, notes Kallanish.
