South Africa steelmaking raw materials exports decline
South African steelmaking mineral export income totalled ZAR 160.5 billion ($8.84 billion) in 2022 on a free on-rail (for) basis, down 4.4% on-year.
Total output decreased by 8% to 101.7 million tonnes. Exports decreased 4.3% to 78.57mt. Iron ore shipments drove the performance with a decline of 7.3% to 56.36mt, from 60.84mt in 2021.
This is according to a South Africa Department of Mineral Resources and Energy preliminary report monitored by Kallanish.
