Songting Steel receives approval for new blast furnace
Tangshan Songting Iron & Steel has received permission for its ironmaking capacity replacement plan from the Department of Ecology and Environment of Hebei Province, Kallanish observes.
According to the announcement, the firm’s two existing 580 cubic metre blast furnaces will be replaced by a 1,500cum BF. The new BF will reach 1.33 million tonnes/year of iron capacity, but cause a reduction of 332,500 t/y (see Kallanish passim).
