Songting Steel caps new blast furnace
China’s Songting Iron & Steel in Tangshan City capped its new 1,500 cubic metre-blast furnace on Tuesday, but remains behind schedule, Kallanish learns.
Initially, the company intended to commission the new BF in March. As old equipment is required to be dismantled before the commissioning, Songting Steel began to shut down old BFs at the end of January to secure a smooth transition.
