Soaring Spanish electricity prices continue to dismay steelmakers
Reports in Spain suggest that a huge year-on-year increase in wholesale electricity prices are beginning to seriously affect energy-intensive users such as EAF steelmakers.
Last week the price of electricity on the wholesale market in Galicia rose to an average of €91.88/MWh ($98.29/MWh) over the week, the highest level since December 2013, according to La Vox de Galicia. This is 103% higher than in January 2016 says market operator OMI-Polo Español …
