SMS to supply rebar minimill to YK Steel
South Korea's YK Steel has commissioned SMS Group to supply a new 1 million tonnes/year rebar minimill at the company's Dangjin site.
The mill, with integrated melting, casting, and rolling and including all electrical and automation systems, is expected to start production in 2025, Kallanish notes. The new project aims at achieving more sustainable production at minimal operating costs.
