SMS reduces workforce as metals sector dips
German plant builder SMS Group is reducing the personnel at its core business in Germany by one fifth, to around 4,000 by 2017, the group says in a statement sent to Kallanish upon request. The layoffs happen against the background of global stagnation in the steel, copper and aluminium industries, the company says.
