Chinas slowdown triggers a surge in steel strikes
China’s economic slowdown has caused a sharp increase in the number of recorded protests by disgruntled, underpaid and misled workers across the economy. Kallanish analysis of China Labour Bulletin Data shows that incidents recorded at steel works in the first six months of 2015 were already 150% of the number recorded over the whole of 2014. Similar increases are noted across mining and steel consuming sectors.
