Slow demand stalls Chinese rebar prices
The Chinese rebar prices increased but then wiped out all their gains, while the futures market fluctuated on Shanghai's reopening, Kallanish notes.
In Shanghai on Friday afternoon, 20mm HRB400 rebar was trading at CNY 4,620-4,640/tonne ($690-693/t), level on-week. The October rebar contract on the Shanghai Futures Exchange closed at CNY 4,793/t, up by CNY 2/t compared with Thursday and up CNY 5/t from the previous Friday.
