Slashed exports drive Cemtas first-half shipment decline
Turkey's Cemtas reported a -15% on-year decline in sales in the first half of 2019 to 70,637 tonnes, with domestic sales down -8% to 45,864t and exports falling -25% to 32,812t. The share of exports in overall sales thus fell to 35% from 40% in H1 2018.
Crude steel production slumped -27% in H1 to 67,431t, while rolled products output was down -20% to 64,904t, Kallanish notes.
